![]() Conductor Eric Hewitt is the conductor of The Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble and chair of that school's Woodwind Department. He is founder and music director of the in-residence avant-garde ensemble at Harvard University, White Rabbit, and conductor & music director of the Charles River Wind Ensemble. Mr. Hewitt graduated from the New England Conservatory with degrees in saxophone and conducting and currently lives with, works for, and studies conducting with Gunther Schuller in Newton, MA.
As a saxophonist, Mr. Hewitt has presented
critically acclaimed premieres by Luciano Berio, Gunther Schuller,
Christian Lauba, and dozens of young and up-and-coming composers. He has
been a soloist with nine Boston area ensembles, including the Boston
Modern Orchestra Project, the FROMM Players at Harvard, and the New
England Conservatory Wind Ensemble and has been featured as soloist on
tours to Japan, Venezuela, and Cuba. As a member of the Radnofsky
Saxophone Quartet, he is a Selmer Performing Artist and Clinician and
performs exclusively on Selmer Instruments.
