Who We Are

A diverse group of talented musicians from the greater Boston Metropolitan area.

Regular members, and substitute players.

Most members performed in college ensembles and many have music degrees.

CRWE members are provided with the opportunity to play quality music in a rigorous, challenging, semi-professional music environment.

Types of CRWE Members
Substitute Players:

Throughout the season, we maintain a roster of subs for all instruments, from one rehearsal to full concert cycles.

These players are often first in line for future openings.
Regular Players:

Perform with CRWE season-long, based on ensemble need.
Audition Requirements
Auditions are scheduled with the Music Director and include:

Two contrasting prepared pieces best representing your performance abilities.

Sight-reading of chosen selection by the Artistic Director
-
Percussionists will be asked to demonstrate abilities on a variety of instruments.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 7:00–9:30 PM at 300 Hammond Pond Parkway, Chestnut Hill, MA

Support the Charles River Wind Ensemble
The Charles River Wind Ensemble is dedicated to bringing music to the community for all to enjoy. Although we offer our concerts free of charge, they are not free for us to perform. We pay rental fees for both our rehearsal and concert venues, purchase or rent the music we perform, transport large percussion instruments, and cover other necessary expenses.
CRWE is a 501(c)(3) organization (tax ID 04-3490372). Your tax-deductible donation helps us keep the music playing for all to enjoy.
